StoneFly, Inc, a pioneer in offering IP Storage solutions has announced the release of its StoneFly Z-series and M-series DR backup appliances. Hence, with the latest addition StoneFly, which is a subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory has ensured that its disaster recovery product line is enduring.
StoneFly Z series of DR backup appliance is the newest member of StoneFly’s backup and disaster recovery line of products led by StoneFly DR365 which provide a total backup solution for all of an office or datacenter’s physical, virtual server and workstation needs. Utilizing the latest in storage technology architecture, StoneFly’s Z-Series offers capacities ranging from just a few TeraBytes, all of the way up to one PetaByte.
StoneFly’s Z-series backup and disaster recovery appliance is a mid level enterprise solution which supports central management console, granular file/folder/volume or bare metal recovery, SSL encryption, compression, data deduplication, and all four types of P2P, P2V, V2P and V2V operations to restore any backup to any physical or virtual platform. “Z-Series appliances are available in integrated, modular and high-availability configurations,” said Mo Tahmasebi, president and CEO for StoneFly. He added that an optional embedded hypervisor combined with our versatile backup engine allows any backup image of a physical or virtual system to be automatically converted into a Virtual Machine (VM) and spun up directly on the Z-Series appliance.”
Z-Series backup agents support a multitude of environments, including Windows servers and workstations, VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Oracle VM, as well as multiple flavors of Linux. VMware ESX/ESXi and Hyper-V servers implement agentless backups where the agent is installed only on the hypervisor and not on the actual VMs. Specialized backup agents for Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Active Directory provide reliable recovery down to an individual email message or database table.
Compatible with StoneFly’s CDR365 Cloud Disaster Recovery Service, backup images from the StoneFly Z-Series appliance can be automatically replicated to secure cloud storage for a true hybrid cloud solution. The CDR365 application combines an easy to use interface with powerful functionality, making a disaster recovery plan simple, reliable and affordable.
Coming to StoneFly M-series entry level backup and disaster recovery appliance, it comes with a spin up virtual machine on virtual appliance and possesses backup compression. With the availability of deduplication feature for backups, elimination of duplicate copies of repeating data can be achieved and thus the storage space can be used intelligently.
With the presence of features such as offsite vaulting and cloud replication StoneFly M Series of DR appliance can allow copying of backup images to tapes or portable hard drives for additional level of disaster recovery. Those tapes or external hard drives can then be transported off of the premises to be safely stored in offsite vaulting. If a catastrophe strikes, those offsite backups can then be used to restore your data on a new machine.
